Laguna madre, Kenedy Ranch, sands flats (15_3). Preserved material with formaldehyde. Surface: Lyngbya sp. - 80%, Schizothrix sp. - 10%, rest - 10%. Slimy layer below the surface: Coleofasciculus chthonoplastes - 80%,, Schizothrix - 10%, rest - 10%. Empty sheaths from Lyngbya sp. observed. 2 mm deep: Coleofasciculus chthonoplastes - 90%, Schizothrix - 5%, rest - 5%. Note: both Lyngbya sp. and Coleofasciculus ssp. are motive, and probably light and salinity sensitive. Thickness of the mat is ~2 mm.

Laguna madre, Kenedy Ranch, sands flats (15_2). Mat material which have been stored in the fridge for 3 weeks. Lyngbya sp. were a dominant on the surface. Coleofasciculus ssp. were dominated inside the mat (1mm deep), with Lyngbya sp. in the rare occurance.
