LITERARY SPECIMEN

Coord.prec.:
500
Country:
Norway
Province:
Spitsbergen Archipelago
Location:
This species was described already by Gomont (1899) from the sea coast of Arctic Norway (Ingo¨ ) and has been neither revised nor confirmed. Our localities are on wet rocks, localized a few metres above the water level of the fjord of Petuniabukta. The rocks are irrigated with water from tundra streams, but also intensely and regularly sprayed with seawater. This implies that the local ecology of this species is quite congruent with the original description of S. septentrionalis.
Substrate:
Rock
