Macroscopic colonies in form of dark spots (clumps) on the glass sides of the culturing tube, surface of the bricks, shells. Cells, 5-7 µm wide, consisting from pseudofilaments, which densely compressed. Pseudofilament short, upto 20 µm, pseudodichotomously branched, olive and olive-red by color. Empty envelopes present. Baeocytes frequent, upto 2.3 µm in diameter.
Taxonomic notes: morphologically similar to Plerocapsa spp.
