Trichomes solitary, few-celled, composed from 4 (rarely 8) cells, solitary cells occur rarely, 0.7-0.9 um wide, attenuated towards the ends, ± regularly screw-like, with 1-2 loose coils; in longer trichomes spirality can be somewhat disturbed; distance between trichome ends 25-30 (45) urn, distance between turns 15-22 um, width of turns 6-10 um. Cells cylindrical, pale grey-green, sometimes with solitary granules at cross-walls. Apical cell gradually pointed. Trichomes sometimes disintegrate into solitary cells.
Occurrence: Freshwater, planktic, in summer in lakes; described from Austria (Neusiedler See), also known from Hungary.
